Bike Lab

Formerly known as Open Shop, our Bike Lab is the place for learners to continue what they started in the Green Apron Program. Much like science labs in school, this is where our young mechanics explore, learn, and practice beyond the classroom. Bike Lab is all about maintaining and growing depth in bicycle skills and knowledge — as well as our relationships with one another.

While the shop is still open to the youth of the neighborhood during bike lab to keep their bikes rolling, this time is mainly meant for those in our classes to hone their skills. Our youth are always happy to help someone fix a flat to keep others riding. If you are interested in joining Green Apron classes, please email programs@freewheelinbikes.org for registration information.

Youth who have earned their Green Apron are always welcome back to our space to solve problems with the bike they earned from us. The focus in these two hour sessions is skills, clinics, and practice time for students enrolled in our Advanced Bicycle Mechanics Classes, including Red, Purple, and Black Apron students - Click Here

Interested in our Bike Lab? Youth 10-18 are invited to join us, no advance notice required. We have open stands for youth to work on, and it is first come first served.
